Dr. Pettersen is a Naturopathic Medical Doctor and the Medical Director at Scottsdale Acupuncture. She received her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon in 1998. She is licensed in Arizona to practice primary care medicine with specialization in Natural Therapeutics. 

Dr. Pettersen’s practice exemplifies a holistic approach to patient care through a variety of modalities including Frequency Specific Microcurrent, European Drainage, Clinical Nutrition, Botanical Medicine, I.V. Therapy, Homeopathy, Functional Medicine, Ortho-Bionomy and mind-body techniques. She is also a Certified Hypnotherapist, Neuro Linguistic Programming Practitioner and Low Dose Allergy (LDA) Certified.

Over the last 2 decades, Dr. Pettersen has worked with many NFL, NHL, NBA athletes to keep them healthy for their sport as well as throughout their retirement. Working alongside the best strength coaches in the business, she has acquired knowledge to support optimal exercise, diet, nutrition and physical therapies. Dr. Pettersen believes that replenishing the body today ensures a better game tomorrow. She is inspired by their strength, talent and dedication to their sport. Carmen is a  licensed Aesthetician born in Lima, Peru, whose practice has been established in Scottsdale, Arizona for many years.  Her passion for beauty and science started at a very young age. When she moved to the US from Caracas, Venezuela to attend college in Kansas City, she immersed herself in science classes to become a Dental Hygienist.  While in school, she realized that her true calling was the beauty industry, so she took all her knowledge in science and applied it to her new passion to become a skin care professional.

Carmen is an expert in volume eyelash extensions (Russian volume technique), permanent makeup, and Micro Blading.  She is also an Acne Specialist and an expert in all aspects of skin care.  She continues to attend classes and seminars to update her practice on the latest trends, techniques, and products.  Carmen is passionate about skin care and her mission is to provide the best treatment for her clients to help them achieve their beauty goals.

Carmen graduated from the Southwest Institute of Natural Aesthetics and incorporates her vegan lifestyle into her art of beauty.  She uses only natural, plant-based products with no chemicals or harsh additives.  She is a former member of Associated Skin Care Professionals, and  she is trained and certified with PCA Skin Care and Face Reality to offer solutions to her clients with acne problems.

She has over 200 hours of training in permanent makeup - including micro blading.  Carmen received her basic training in permanent makeup from the American Institute of Intradermal Cosmetics in Tucson, Arizona.  She has trained with the International Biotek Permanent Makeup Academy and world-renown permanent makeup artist Anna Savina to learn her unique technique for brows, eyeliner, and lips.  Carmen has also trained in advanced permanent makeup techniques with The Elborno Center in Chicago and with permanent makeup master and  owner of Baltic Brows, Rita Romo.
